A highly anticipated performance by South African Amapiano sensation Uncle Waffles was abruptly cancelled on November 30 at the Ask Dome in Kenya, leaving thousands of concertgoers disappointed. The event, which was expected to showcase the rising star's hit tracks, ended in disarray as poor management and security issues caused chaos, resulting in concert attendees being exposed to teargas.
Uncle Waffles, who has been making waves in the music industry with hits like "Madibuseng," took to social media to express her frustration over the mishandling of the event. She described the night as a deeply disappointing experience, citing multiple issues that made it impossible for her to perform.
“I am extremely disappointed and shattered by the way ‘For The Love of Amapiano’ handled this event, which is something I had been eagerly looking forward to,” Waffles shared on her social media accounts. She went on to highlight several concerns, including technical sound issues even before her performance began and an overall lack of organisation.
However, it was the treatment of her fans that seemed to upset the artist the most. Waffles accused the event’s security team of mishandling her supporters, pushing them around and creating an unsafe environment. In her post, she called on the organisers to do better in future events.
“To the event organisers, you have not only disappointed me, but you have also let down 10,000+ people who came out in support of this event,” she added. “I urge you to do better if you have any desire to continue putting events together in the future.”
As of now, the organisers have yet to respond to the backlash. Meanwhile, the star’s dedicated Kenyan fanbase has expressed their own frustration with the event's poor execution. Many took to social media to voice their hopes for a better experience if Uncle Waffles returns to Kenya for another performance.
"Kenyan event organisers need to get their act right because this is disappointing," said one fan on Twitter, while another added, "Kenyan event organisers strike again. Go to school, guys, and learn how to do it the right way."
Despite the hiccup, Uncle Waffles’ fans remain loyal, hoping for better organisation in future shows and expressing their desire to see her perform in Kenya under better circumstances. The unfortunate incident highlights the importance of proper event planning, especially when hosting international stars whose fans expect a seamless experience.
