Tega Oghenejobo has been appointed as the new President of Mavin Records, a global powerhouse in the music industry. This announcement, made by the label’s founder, Michael Collins Ajereh—widely recognized as Don Jazzy—marks a pivotal moment not only for Mavin but for the broader African music landscape.
Tega, who has been integral to Mavin since its launch in 2012, steps into this elevated role as both President and Chief Operating Officer (COO). Don Jazzy, known for his keen eye for talent, expressed his pride in Tega’s progression within the company. “The most genius thing I have done in my life was being able to spot the passion and resilience in Tega,” he remarked in a post on his X page.
With this new appointment, Tega is set to steer Mavin towards ambitious new goals. His extensive experience in the music industry and his deep understanding of the business will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping the future direction of the label.
In his acceptance speech, Tega emphasized his commitment to the Mavin vision, stating, “I’m honored to step into this new role. It means embracing new challenges, setting new goals, and reaching new heights.” His words signal a strong determination to elevate the careers of Mavin's artists and continue the label’s legacy of innovation.
As the Nigerian music industry faces challenges, including a notable decline in award shows this year, Tega’s leadership could herald a much-needed revitalization. Industry insiders are optimistic that his appointment will help navigate these turbulent waters and reaffirm Mavin's position as a leading force in African music.
Fans and stakeholders alike are eagerly watching to see how Tega’s leadership will impact Mavin Records and the broader music scene, as he prepares to lead with passion and vision in the ever-evolving industry.
