Global Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has released his sixth studio album, Morayo, marking a significant moment in his illustrious career. Named after his late mother, the album dropped on November 22, 2024, and has already begun setting records, reflecting the profound anticipation surrounding its launch.
The 16-track project includes collaborations with Brent Faiyaz, Asake, Jasmine Sullivan, Anaïs Cardot, and Tiakola, showcasing Wizkid’s global reach and artistic versatility. Preceded by the chart-topping singles Piece of My Heart featuring Brent Faiyaz and Kese (Dance), Morayo has established itself as a landmark release.
Within hours of its release, Kese (Dance) smashed Spotify Nigeria's streaming records with an unprecedented 1.5 million opening-day streams, overtaking Wizkid’s own Piece of My Heart, which previously held the record at 1.016 million streams. These achievements have positioned Wizkid as the African artist with the most significant first-day streams on Spotify, cementing his place as one of the continent’s most influential musical icons.
Beyond its commercial success, Morayo serves as an emotional homage to Wizkid’s late mother, showcasing a deeply personal side of the artist. Fans and critics alike have praised the album's reflective tone and seamless blend of Afrobeat, R&B, and global influences, calling it one of his most profound works yet.
With Morayo, Wizkid not only pays tribute to family but also reinforces his dominance in the global music landscape, proving that his artistry transcends borders and continues to evolve. As streaming numbers climb and accolades pour in, Morayo is set to become a defining chapter in Wizkid’s remarkable journey.
